Middle East

Jordan
For many years Global I.E. has facilitated the attendance of American students at both the University of Jordan in Amman , and at Yarmouk University in Irbid, in the north of Jordan . Due to the violence between Arab and Jew in recent years, the project had to be suspended.

West Bank/Palestine
Several trips have been made to develop contacts in this troubled area. We have been asked to assist disabled or hearing-impaired orphans who have so little chance of a normal life. A computer center in Ramallah may be a future project. Due to the violence we have not been able to pursue that project.

Lebanon
Several exploratory trips have been made to consider educational or humanitarian projects, but the unsettled situation has held back any progress. We hope to pursue these projects in the near future, provided funding and staff become available.

Egypt
Global I.E.'s second office was opened in Cairo , in the early 1990's. When the proposed project director, an American, moved from the country, the project office was closed. Most of our past activity was assistance in Cairo , for Sudanese students who were refugees from the Sudan civil war. There is no current ongoing activity.
