Afghanistan
Global Education Tajikistan has also been successful in reaching into northern Afghanistan to other Tajik people. A school for poor children is expanding from three rooms to 12 classrooms. Older girls are also being taught sewing at the school.
Kazakhstan
Global Education Kazakhstan has been extremely successful in the field of business training. Many seminars have been held with the police, state military and even governmental ministers. Teaching programs on how to manage ethically in the post-Communist world have been warmly received. We have also been reaching teachers with similar messages and have provided English language training. Several trips to Kazakhstan have been made by U.S. elementary school teachers to assist their counterparts in developing teaching syllabuses.
Kyrgyzstan
In Late 2006, Global I.E. visited Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan, and other cities in the country. The School for the Deaf and Mentally Retarded Children in Bishkek was found to be in terrible physical condition. The Director asked for assistance to repair the bathrooms and heating systems. Funds were raised and the work is underway. It is hoped that funding will be raised sometime in the future to refurbish the kitchen.
Global I.E. is in the process of registering as Global Education Kyrgyzstan and will maintain Kyrgyz staff in the capital city.
For several years Global I.E. has provided educational grants for needy university students.
Tajikistan
Global Education Tajikistan (GET), locally known as “Inspiration,” has been very active in numerous areas including: operating a soup kitchen, assisting remote schools by making them habitable in winter, opening a pre-school with around 500 poor children who are taught dance and other arts; and providing humanitarian assistance to a leper colony. Numerous requests have been received from the federal government to assist in other areas, including providing assistance to federal orphanages. Grants have also been provided to university students.
The newest project involves rebuilding and or restoring rural schools in several villages. It is planned to maintain this assistance as funds are available.
